Incomprehensible Blathering

The shallow stream is easily crossed. The shallow mind, even more so.

Phantom

I went to see the Phantom of the Opera on Friday night at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. It was quite a show. The presentation was fantastic as were the sets, the costumes and the seats. (I lucked out and managed to acquire tickets in row K, a mere 11 rows from the stage. As it was, I had difficulty keeping track of everything that was going on.) The only thing that put me off a bit was the singing. I've spoiled myself by listening to CD's from the original Broadway production and quite honestly, these singers were not as good. "Christine" specifically and the "Phantom" seemed off. Of course, these folks have been doing these performances non-stop for the last month, so I'm betting their voices may be a little tired, too. *shrug* Oh well, it was still an awesome show. Never-the-less, Les Misérable was still better. ;-)

Existential delusions

I have deluded myself too long into believing that everything IS alright. Actually, things may be alright, but it is time for them to be better. As a friend of mine says from time to time in a tremulous goblin voice, "Maaaake BETTER!!" I'm just not sure how to make it better. I used to think MORE was the answer: more money, more sex, more food, more stuff, etc. I still think more is the answer, or at least better. A better connection is required. I'm still getting too much static.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.

A lot has happened in the last week. Some things I have enjoyed, some I have not. Perhaps I'll write more later.

Back to the bike

Gas prices being what they are ($2.00/gallon, or so), I thought it would be a good idea to take out the bike and try the trails. I may feel it in the morning, but my first ride to work went fairly well. I managed to make the 7.45 mile run in just over 32 minutes. If I don't get rained out too often, I hope to make more of these with potentially better time. :-)

Thursday the thirteenth

It really doesn't have quite the same effect as saying "Friday the Thirteenth". *shrug* Oh well. Why is 13 considered so unlucking, anyway? Did a group of bakers get together with a group of witches. (Actually, here are a few ideas why...)

In any case, bed calls with the promise of sleep.

Happiness *rant*

Until you stop blaming everyone and/or everything around you for your life, until you take responsibility for your actions AND responsibility for what others appear to do to you, happiness will be transitory at best. YOU are the master of your destiny. YOU are the creator of YOUR life and of everything in it. YOU attract people into your life who give YOU exactly what YOU want. If you think it is otherwise, look closely at what you really want and how you're getting it.

Peace.

Bed...

The sweet nectar of sleep calls to my soul.
The promise of rest appeals to my body.
The dreams of God lure my mind.
I succumb.

I have been lead to believe that comments may now be available. - Could be interesting

What a nice way of looking at God. All know that the soul merges into God, but few know that God merges into the soul. -Merthin Daniels, self-proclaimed nut and viably depressed weirdo. (Yes, I meant "viably".)

I like the way the new input screen for Blogger looks. I doubt the end-reader of this will notice much of a difference, but let me tell you, it is much cleaner looking (in Mozilla) than it was before. Kudos, Blogger. You folks did a great job.

In other news, that which begins also ends. There are no exceptions in human life, depending on your point of view, anyway. So it is with me. That which began has ended. That which I hoped for, ceased. Yet from the ashes there may yet be a pearl to be found.

This is kind of like saying that every cloud has a silver lining but hopefully slightly less cliche. ;-)

It (marriage) may be compared to a cage, the birds without try desperately to get in, and those within try desperately to get out. -Michel de Montaigne, essayist (1533-1592)

I no longer clamor one way or the other. The cage does not exist save in the minds of the caged. Free your mind, (Neo).

I should be sleeping, but...

I'm going to do a quick blog entry instead.

The inscrutable being you seek is everywhere you look; look into the sky and see the clouds or the sun, the birds or the rain, the dust or the insects. Look at the ground and see the grass or the trees, the dirt or the pavement, the mud or the water. Look out across the horizon and see the houses or the cars, the apartment buildings or the trucks, the fields or the roads, the horses or cows, dogs or cats, butterflies or hummingbirds. Look into the mirror and see God.

God is only dead if you let her die. God is only dead if you ignore that voice inside you telling you what you need to do or need to be. Listen and understand. Hear and become. Know and create your reality.
