Incomprehensible Blathering

The shallow stream is easily crossed. The shallow mind, even more so.

True hearts and true friends,
Ice envelopes all things now.
Winter is at hand.

Time and sleep fail us.
Ev'ryday, more is needed.
Death is nearer, now.

I found this link quite appropriate.

I wonder why:

I wonder why birds fly. Was it a natural evolution for predator avoidance or did they strike a bargain with someone? If it were the latter, what did they trade for their gift of natural flight? Perhaps they traded lifespan..."I'll give you the gift of flight, but instead of living 200 years, you'll only live to be 15." Nah, not likely. Different birds live to be different ages. Maybe they traded plumage. "I'll give you the gift of flight, but instead of being stunningly beautiful, you'll have to all drab and brown." Nah, the peacock has relatively nice plumage and I'm pretty sure they fly. Ah ha. I know what it is. They must have given up most of their intellect. After all, I doubt you've ever heard someone being nice call someone else as a "bird-brain". :-)

Here's to another very acceptable day.

A late morning waking followed by Taekwondo testing. My spouse successfully tested for her green belt while I managed to avoid being hurt while holding boards. Dinner followed which, though not the most enjoyable of company (primarily because there were too many people), it wasn't horrible and the food was good.

This evening was nice, too. One more time for the "summer" season did I stand in line for Belts. The results were good, if tiresome in the coming.

So ends another day with good plans for the coming week and hopes for a better weekend.

Wow. What a cool day. (These are in chronological order, not order of importance.)

First, my spouse and I went to a sparring seminar. It was very informative and a good workout to boot. The instructor brought up the issue of "Timing" which, as far as I'm concerned, has been left out of most sparring teaching of late. He also demonstrated some good drills which I look forward to practicing.

Second, we had an excellent "breakfast" for lunch at Perkins. The waiter was very nice, the food was more than timely and above delicious.

Third, I had the opportunity to see and chat with two of my closest friends. S & E, I know you didn't come in to see me, but it was still really nice to see you today. It was an extended bonus, as far as I was concerned.

Fourth, I started the move into my new office. Mind you, this was work, but I think the outcome will be very nice.

Fifth, I spent a modicum of time with a black-belt friend. She's fun to poke at, verbally as well as physically.

Sixth, my spouse and I have virtually finished putting together a truly awesome computer desk. It needs a few finishing touches, but it is now functional and looks really good, IMHO.

The heart in springtime,
Hope returns like a swallow.
My heart is at peace.

Why do I beat my head against the wall all the time?
Because it feels so good when I stop. :-)

A new course is laid,
A new hope dawns in autumn,
I will try again.
