Incomprehensible Blathering

The shallow stream is easily crossed. The shallow mind, even more so.

Roxanne

An old and interesting movie in my opinion starring Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah, et. al. The point being that I just watched this movie recently. It's obvious that it's old based on the expectations and responses of the women, especially. Still, it's a fun movie. It has two great scenes in it. My favorite is a bar scene in which a crude and rude Neanderthal makes an insulting comment about our beloved star's nose. The ensuing insult contest is quite amusing. The other scene very near the beginning of the movie involves our star delivering one of my favorite lines of all time, albeit misquoted: "I really like your shoes, but no matter how much I like your shoes, I wouldn't want to be ... IN ... your shoes." The real quote is a shade longer but not as usable outside that scene.

I also re-watched The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise, et. al. There are elements of that culture I would love to be able to incorporate into my own life. Perhaps, with time and practice, I will be able to do so.

So, yeah...work, etc. I'm not sure if I'm bored or just suffering from ennui. :p There are a number of changes occurring in the next few weeks of which I cannot say anything here. The short story is that my dwindling sense of usefulness and value has been removed completely. If it weren't for my interests outside of work, seppuku would be a viable option.

Home: Interesting and mostly satisfying. I assisted my gf in rearranging her office location (currently a nice little nook between the living room and dining room) today. I think it turned out fairly well. She should now be set up such that organization for her new job is tenable.

I also managed to go through the last six months of financial statements and get caught up on the book work. *bleck* I'm glad that's done, anyway.

And now for something completely different: Life in every breath...

The unknown element...

... is probably love. I don't know what else it could be that would allow me to forget past transgressions so easily and quickly both with my current lover (though of late she has been absolutely awesome) and with former friends and lovers. On the other hand, perhaps senility has set in. ;-) More soon.

A few quotes

A compliment is something like a kiss through a veil. -Victor Hugo, author
(1802-1885)

Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you will reach your destiny. -Carl Schurz, general and politician (1829-1906)

When I can look Life in the eyes, / Grown calm and very coldly wise, / Life will have given me the Truth, / And taken in exchange---my youth. -Sara Teasdale, poet (1884-1933)

I'm not sure I really care for that last one, but my first ex-wife so loved the author that I thought I'd put it up here in honor of her.
