Footnotes of the world
There are books in which the footnotes or comments scrawled by some reader's hand in the margin are more interesting than the text. The world is one of these books. -George Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952)

Isn't this what blogging is all about? We the bloggers footnote the world and oft our comments, our daily trials and tribulations are far more interesting than the "big" stories. Viva la footnote.

A word on the "little things." I've come to realize it's the little things, the daily thoughts and experiences, that matter in the grand scheme of things. It is the joy I get out of watching the steam rise from a cup of tea or the peace I find in the embrace of a loved one that truly matter. I can have all the "big questions" answered to my satisfaction but if my daily heart isn't opened to the footnotes of life, the little details that I need to go out of my way to not be oblivious to, then all is worth nothing. I know, my comment doesn't really pertain, but these are the thoughts that flowed after reading your comments.

On the contrary, it DOES pertain. It is simply a step deeper than I had taken it. It is the footnotes in life that make life worth living and make life what it is. I personally don't think life is necessarily about how much money one makes or about the "great" plans. It is far more important how someone treats another person or a pet or even a stray. It is the footnotes that really speak volumes about someone.
